Release notes

Every Copy2Deck release, including new features, improvements, and important fixes.

Current release

Copy2Deck 1.3.0

Non-Steam library management from Copy2Deck.

Added

  • A dedicated Non-Steam Games tab that reads shortcuts across Steam user profiles.
  • Automatic Non-Steam shortcut discovery immediately after Copy2Deck connects.
  • Add to Steam in the Deck Manager right-click menu for remote files.
  • Remove from Steam as both a button and right-click action in the Non-Steam Games tab.
  • Search and direct navigation to each Non-Steam game’s file location.

Safety

  • Timestamped shortcuts.vdf backups before every add or remove operation.
  • Duplicate shortcut detection and automatic selection of the most recently active Steam user.
  • Steam is closed before its shortcut library changes so it cannot overwrite the update.
  • Removing a shortcut never deletes the executable, game directory, saves, or other files.

Security

  • Updated SSH.NET from 2025.1.0 to 2026.0.0, which contains the upstream fix for CVE-2026-48798.
Steam discovery update

Copy2Deck 1.2.2

A permission-safe Steam Games discovery update.

Improved

  • Steam Games discovery now skips inaccessible optional libraries, mounted storage, and user-data folders while continuing to scan readable locations.
  • Readable game installs and related Steam folders remain available even when another storage location is restricted.

Fixed

  • Opening or scanning the Steam Games tab could fail with a permission-denied error on Decks containing restricted library or mount paths.

Security

  • Discovery does not elevate privileges, change ownership, or modify SteamOS permissions.
Transfer reliability update

Copy2Deck 1.2.1

A reliability update for large and long-running transfers.

Improved

  • High-speed transfers begin processing immediately instead of performing a long serial preparation pass across every folder and file.
  • Remote folders are created on demand by the parallel workers, while empty folder structures are still preserved.
  • Smart Resume and existing-file checks now run across the parallel transfer channels.

Added

  • Twenty-second SSH keepalives for the primary connection, Connection Doctor, storage calculations, and every high-speed transfer channel.
  • Automatic SteamOS sleep and idle prevention while a transfer is active.
  • Automatic release of sleep prevention when a transfer completes, fails, is cancelled, the app closes, or the SSH session is lost.

Fixed

  • Large directory trees could appear stuck at “preparing parallel transfer channels” while remote preflight work occurred without visible progress.
  • Long transfers were more vulnerable to idle SSH or network-session timeouts.
Major file-manager update

Copy2Deck 1.2.0

Deck Manager became the primary dual-pane workspace.

Added

  • Side-by-side This PC and Steam Deck file panes with matching navigation and file details.
  • Bidirectional drag and drop for individual files, multiple selections, and folders.
  • Folder-aware drops: dropping over a folder transfers into it; otherwise the current directory is used.
  • Quick Locations for common Windows folders, the C: drive, Steam Deck folders, Steam libraries, game data, and mounted storage.
  • Right-click actions in both panes for opening, renaming, deleting, creating folders, and refreshing.
  • Local folder icons and aligned Name, Type, Size, and Modified columns.

Changed

  • Deck Manager is now the first and primary tab.
  • Windows-side deletions go to the Recycle Bin; Steam Deck deletions remain confirmed permanent actions.
  • The Deck Manager layout was resized and balanced to keep both panes visible without horizontal page scrolling.
Connection and transfer update

Copy2Deck 1.1.0

Better diagnostics and faster multi-file transfers.

Added

  • Connection Doctor with checks for hostname resolution, port 22, authentication, SFTP startup, home-folder access, and write permission.
  • Adaptive high-speed mode using up to three trusted SFTP channels for qualifying multi-file transfers.
  • Initial drag-and-drop upload support.
  • Transfer speed, file count, progress, and estimated time remaining.
  • Conflict options and size or SHA-256 verification.

Improved

  • Trusted Steam Deck identity checks for additional transfer channels.
  • Clearer errors and Debug log details when transfers or connection steps fail.
Setup update

Copy2Deck 1.0.1

A smoother first connection for new users.

Changed

  • The default host is now steamdeck and the default username is deck.
  • In-app Steam Deck setup instructions match the website guide.
  • The setup dialog was resized so all instructions are visible when it opens.

Fixed

  • Removed reliance on hostname -I in setup guidance and added a more reliable IP-address fallback.
  • Added clearer guidance for permission-denied and hostname-resolution problems.
